Daniel Denihan Jr. and Brian Carcaterra founded Homewood Real Estate Partners in 2009 with investment from, and in collaboration with, DJD Associates, LLC.  Homewood has since invested in excess of $26 million dollars in properties throughout the northeast corridor and in the Midwest and Mid Atlantic, to build a portfolio that includes Class A office space, limited services hotels, multi-family residential, and speculative land.  For each investment, Homewood conducts extensive due diligence with the assistance of a broad and strategic network of professionals in the marketplace.

Dan's and Brian's relationship began over 20 years ago as competitive rivals on the high school lacrosse field and was solidified during their time at The Johns Hopkins University, where both earned bachelors degrees and multi-year All-American Lacrosse Player status. After graduation, while launching their respective real estate careers, both Dan and Brian were All-Stars in Major League Lacrosse.


Daniel Denihan
Managing Partner

Dan has lifelong real estate acquisition and investment experience, as well as hospitality management experience, having been involved in day-to-day operations of the Denihan family-owned Affinia Hospitality Group (formerly Manhattan East Suite Hotels).  Dan is currently a Managing Partner at Homewood Residential Builders and also manages all real estate assets in the DJD Associates, LLC investment portfolio.

Dan has been an active real estate investor and developer for over a decade and has proven successful in identifying projects with high-earning potentials across a variety of property types and asset classes. Dan is instrumental in securing deals throughout the Northeast, Southeast, and Chicago.


Sean Denihan
Managing Partner

Sean Denihan joined Homewood Real Estate Partners in 2014, bringing with him a decade of experience within the Real Estate and Construction industries.

Before joining Homewood, Sean was an acquisitions analyst at ClearRock Properties, where he focused on underwriting commercial office investments, in addition to managing new and existing assets. Prior to ClearRock, Sean worked at Tenth Avenue Holdings where he was involved in all aspects of closing hotel and office transactions.  Before that, Sean was at Structuretone Construction in Manhattan where he worked as an Estimator and Superintendent on large square footage, high-profile construction projects, including Hess Oil and Moody’s.

Sean holds a Bachelor of Arts in Government from Georgetown University and a Masters of Business Administration in Finance from Fordham University.


Malachy Mahon
COO

Malachy Mahon joined the company in 2010 and is the COO and legal counsel.  He brings 25+ years of acquisition and development experience and is responsible for sourcing investments, securing debt and equity, project management and daily operations.  Before joining Homewood, Malachy owned a company specializing in residential development throughout the Northeast and Southeast United States. Prior to that, he was a lawyer representing financial institutions and privately owned companies in all aspects of commercial and residential mortgage origination and general real estate law. Malachy earned a B.A. degree in economics from Boston College and a J.D. from Fordham Law School.

Mike Powers joined Homewood in 2015 bringing with him four years of experience within the Affordable Housing and Real Estate industries. Mike is responsible for overseeing all matters relating to accounting, asset management, property management and underwriting new opportunities.


Jason Benison
Analyst

Jason Benison joined Homewood in 2021 bringing with him over three years of experience within the Accounting and Real Estate industries. Jason is responsible for all in-house accounting and deal analysis relating to assets under ownership and potential acquisitions. Before joining Homewood, Jason was an analyst at Torchlight Investors, where he focused on creating and updating quarterly reports for investors as well as conducting relevant research in the real estate industry. Prior to Torchlight, Jason worked at PricewaterhouseCoopers where he planned and executed financial statement audits for various alternative investment clients including hedge funds, fund of funds and private equity entities.Jason holds a Bachelor of Science in Accounting and a Master of Science in Accounting from Binghamton University. Jason is a Certified Public Accountant.


Laura Connolly
Executive Assistant

Laura Connolly joined the Homewood team in February 2022. She has previously worked as an Assistant at Random House Publishing, the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation and to journalist, Dominick Dunne.

Laura’s responsibilities include providing administrative support for the Homewood group and the daily operations of the company. Laura has a bachelor’s in Communication from Geneseo and a Master’s in Creative Arts Therapy from Hofstra University.
