Mal is the Chief Operating Officer and Legal Counsel, is a member of the firm’s Investment Committee and is responsible for overseeing the firm’s business strategies, development activity, property management teams and providing guidance on all legal and compliance matters. Before joining Homewood, Mal founded Port Realty Group which specialized in residential development throughout the Northeast and Southeast U.S. In aggregate, Port Realty Group developed ~1,000 units totaling in excess of $250 million in total capitalization. Prior to that, he was a lawyer at Rivkin Radler & Kremer and solo private practice where he represented financial institutions and privately owned companies in all aspects of commercial and residential mortgage origination and general real estate law.

Malachy earned a B.A. in Economics from Boston College and a J.D. from Fordham Law School.
